Updated over 4 months ago

If you're experiencing delays or want to track your payouts more closely, your Stripe dashboard is a valuable tool. This guide will help you navigate through Stripe to find the status of your transactions and payouts.

Where to Find Your Transactions on Stripe

  1. Login to Your Stripe Account:

Start by clicking the Go to Dashboard button available on the payout settings page on Buy Me a Coffee. You can then log in to Stripe using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email.

  2. Navigate to the Balance Tab:

On your Stripe dashboard, go to the Balance tab. From there, you can view All Transactions, which includes all incoming payments from Buy Me a Coffee, along with their current status.

    • Payment Completed: If the payment from Buy Me a Coffee is marked as Succeeded it means the funds have been transferred to your Stripe account.

    • Payout Not Initiated: If the payout hasn't been initiated yet, you'll need to wait 1-2 days for Stripe to start the payout process. This is a typical time-frame, but it can vary depending on your account and payout settings.

Where to Find Your Payouts on Stripe

  1. Go to the Balance Tab:

After confirming the transaction, navigate to the Balance tab on your Stripe dashboard.

  2. Access the Payouts Section:

Under Balance, click on Payouts. This section will show you all the payouts that have been initiated from your Stripe account to your bank account.

  3. Understanding Payout Statuses:

    • In Transit: If your payout is marked as in-transit It means the funds have been sent to your bank but haven't been deposited yet. The Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) next to the payout gives you an idea of when to expect the funds. It's usually a good idea to wait until this ETA has passed before taking further action.

    • Paid: Once a payout is marked as paid, the money should be in your bank account. However, it might take additional time to reflect due to your bank's processing time. You can click on the specific payout to get detailed information if you encounter a delay. Stripe provides a Payout Trace ID that you can use to inquire with your bank (This ID can be acquired after contacting Stripe or Buy Me a Coffee support).

    • Failed: If a payout is marked as failed, it indicates that the funds were not successfully deposited into your bank account. You can view the specific reason for the failure by clicking on the payout in your Stripe dashboard. Common reasons include incorrect bank account details or bank processing issues. Follow the instructions on the payout page to resolve the issue, which may involve updating your bank details or re-initiating the payout.

Common Scenarios You Might Encounter

  1. Payment Completed, Payout Not Initiated:
After your payment is marked as succeeded in the All Transactions section, it might take 1-2 business days for Stripe to initiate the payout. During this time, the payout status won't appear under the Payouts section.

  2. Payout Initiated, Status In Transit:
Once Stripe has initiated your payout, the status will update to in-transit. Check the ETA provided in the Payouts section. If the funds have yet to arrive by this date, it's usually due to bank processing times.

  3. Paid Out, Delay in Bank Transfer:
If the payout is marked as paid But has yet to reach your bank account, there could be a delay on the bank's side. You can get more details by clicking on the specific payout in the Payouts section. You can use the Payout Trace ID to follow up with your bank if you need it.

  4. Paid Out, But Reverted to Stripe:
Sometimes, due to issues like incorrect bank details or bank processing errors, the payout might fail even after being marked as paid. In such cases, the funds will be reverted to your Stripe balance even, and status will be updated as failed. You must update your bank details in Stripe and initiate the payout again.

  5. Paid Out, But Funds Not Received After All Delays:
If the payout status is paid, and after all expected delays, the funds still haven't reached your bank account, you may need to escalate the issue. Contact Stripe Support directly with a bank statement or a letter from your bank confirming that the payout hasn't reached your account. Stripe will then investigate the issue further.

  6. Failed Payout:
If a payout fails, you can find the specific reason by checking the payout page for that transaction in the Stripe dashboard. The reason for the failure will be displayed there, often due to issues like an incorrect account number or the payout not being processed to the bank. Follow the directions provided on that page to resolve the issue, which may involve updating your bank details, contacting your bank or re-initiating the payout.

By regularly checking your Stripe dashboard, you can stay updated on the status of your transactions and payouts. This proactive approach helps you identify and address any potential issues early, ensuring a smoother experience with receiving your funds. If you encounter any issues, don't hesitate to contact Stripe or Buy Me a Coffee support for further assistance.
