Solve common problems with your missing or delayed payouts

Updated this week

If you're experiencing confusion regarding your payouts, you're not alone! This guide will help you understand the various stages of your payouts, the delays involved, and what each payout status means.

Delay in Payouts

When it comes to receiving payouts, a slight delay is normal. Several factors can contribute to this, including banking holidays, processing times with our payment partners, and the specific payout method you have chosen.

First Payout Delays

Your first payout usually takes the longest to process. This is because of the necessary verification and compliance checks, which are done to ensure the security of your account and transactions. Typically, this first payout may take up to 7 - 14 days, but it can vary depending on your location and bank. You can read more here

Minimum Delay for Subsequent Payouts

Once your first payout is completed, subsequent payouts generally process faster. You can typically expect your payouts to be processed within 1-2 business days after reaching your stripe account. However, keep in mind that weekends and bank holidays can affect these timelines.

Payout Statuses: What Do They Mean?

Understanding the different payout statuses can help you track your money more effectively. Here's a detailed explanation of each status:

  • In Progress
This means your payout request has been received but has not yet been processed by Buy Me a Coffee. At this stage, there's no need to take any action.

  • Complete
Your payout has been processed by Buy Me a Coffee and is now on its way to your bank account. If you're using Stripe, this could also mean that your payout is with Stripe and is being transferred to your bank. Depending on your bank, this could take 3-5 business days to show up in your account ( First payout will experience additional delay)

Payouts to Bank

Once your payout is marked as Complete by Buy Me a Coffee, the funds are sent to your Stripe account. Stripe will then transfer the amount to your bank, typically within 3-5 business days. First payouts may take longer due to verification.

Keep in mind, Stripe requires a minimum payout threshold based on your country and currency. If your balance doesn't meet the required amount, the payout won’t initiate until it does. You can check the minimum threshold for your country here.

A: Usually, this status will update within a couple of business days, which is our default payout cycle.

Complete Status FAQs:

  • Q: My payout status is 'Complete,' but I am still waiting to receive the funds. What should I do?
A: Your payout has been processed by Buy Me a Coffee and is now available in your Stripe balance. Stripe will need to initiate the payout to your bank account, within 1-2 days. If the funds still haven't appeared after this period, ensure there are no issues on your bank's side before contacting Buy Me a Coffee support.

  • Q: Why has my payout not been initiated from Stripe?
A: If your payout status is marked as 'Complete' on Buy Me a Coffee, it means the funds have been sent to Stripe. However, Stripe must first initiate the payout to your bank account.
