How to organize your page with backdated posts

Backdating lets you publish a post with a past date useful for archiving older work or keeping your page timeline organised. The post appears on your page as if it was originally published on the date you chose.

How to set a backdate

  1. From your dashboard, open the post you want to publish, either create a new one or open an existing draft.

  2. In the publishing panel on the right, click the dropdown arrow next to the “Publish now” button. Select “Set publish date” from the menu.

  3. A date and time field will appear. Choose a past date to backdate the post

  4. Click “Publish” to confirm. If you selected a past date, a confirmation prompt will appear click “Publish” again to proceed.

Note : Your page lists posts in chronological order by publish date. A backdated post will be placed in the timeline based on the date you selected, not at the top of your feed.


Will my followers be notified about a backdated post?

No. When backdating a post, the email notification option is automatically turned off. Your followers will not receive an email about the post.

Where will a backdated post appear on my page?

It will appear in your page’s timeline based on the date you chose. It won’t be pinned to the top of your feed it’ll slot into its place in the chronological order

Can I backdate a post I’ve already published?

Not directly. You’ll first need to unpublish the post (returning it to Draft state), then use the “Set publish date” option to set your desired date before publishing again.
