How do you switch between the two support widget layouts?

Now you can switch from the traditional coffee theme to a layout where your supporters can choose the amount they want to contribute

Updated over 4 months ago

The support widget on your Buy Me a Coffee page offers two variations: Standard View and Suggested Amounts.

Standard View is the classic Buy Me a Coffee theme where supporters select how many "coffees" to buy to support you. You can set the price of each coffee between $1 and $5 and even update the term "coffee" to any word you prefer (e.g., "pizza," "books," etc.), making it customizable to match your brand.

Suggested Amounts presents a few predefined contribution levels that your supporters can choose from or enter their own custom amount. This layout simplifies the process by eliminating the need for supporters to calculate how many coffees to buy for a specific contribution.

Steps to Change the Widget Layout:

  1. Login to your Buy Me a Coffee account. On the left-hand menu, click on the Supporters tab.

  2. You'll see the option to choose between the two views. Select the layout you prefer; your changes will be saved and automatically applied to your page.

Which Widget is Better for You?

Both widgets offer unique benefits, and the right choice depends on your goals and what best suits your supporters.

  • Standard View:

This option is ideal to maintain a fun and interactive experience. The concept of "buying a coffee" feels personal and symbolic, and you can adjust the terminology to suit your style. It's great if you're looking to create a lighthearted connection with your audience, where each contribution feels more like a token of appreciation.

  • Suggested Amounts:

This layout is the way to go if you want simplicity and flexibility. Supporters can choose from suggested contribution amounts or enter a custom amount, making it easier to support you with the exact amount they want. This layout is perfect if you prefer a more straightforward approach to collecting contributions.
