How do you switch between the two support widget layouts?

Here's how you can switch between two widgets

Your support widget is where supporters can choose how much they’d like to contribute to you. Buy Me a Coffee gives you two ways to set this up, so you can choose the experience that feels right for your page.

You can use the classic coffee-based layout, where supporters choose how many coffees they’d like to buy, or switch to Suggested Amounts, where they can choose from a few contribution amounts or enter their own.

You can switch between the two layouts whenever you like. Your existing support settings and contributions won't be affected by changing the layout.

Standard View

Standard View is the classic Buy Me a Coffee experience. Supporters choose how many “coffees” they’d like to buy, based on the price you set for each coffee.

You can set your coffee price between $1 and $5 and change the word “coffee” to something else, such as “pizza,” “books,” or anything that fits your page.

Suggested Amounts

Suggested Amounts lets you offer a few contribution amounts for supporters to choose from. They can also enter their own custom amount.

This is a simpler option if you'd rather let supporters choose exactly how much they want to contribute without thinking in terms of coffees.

Steps to Change the Widget Layout:

  1. On the left-hand menu, click on the Supporters tab.

  2. Then, click Settings

  3. Scroll down to Choose Layout, and you'll see the option to choose between the two views. Select the layout you prefer; your changes will be saved and automatically applied to your page.

Which Widget is Better for You?

Both widgets offer unique benefits, and the right choice depends on your goals and what best suits your supporters.

  • Standard View:

This option is ideal to maintain a fun and interactive experience. The concept of "buying a coffee" feels personal and symbolic, and you can adjust the terminology to suit your style. It's great if you're looking to create a lighthearted connection with your audience, where each contribution feels more like a token of appreciation.

  • Suggested Amounts:

This layout is the way to go if you want simplicity and flexibility. Supporters can choose from suggested contribution amounts or enter a custom amount, making it easier to support you with the exact amount they want. This layout is perfect if you prefer a more straightforward approach to collecting contributions.
