Extras are a great way to offer something in return for all the support you receive. It's also a great way to sell something, anything. There are no limits to what you can sell or share using extras.

If you have anything that you think would come in handy for another person, turn it into an Extra! Here are a few examples of Extras that you can offer:

  • One-on-one consultations/meetings

  • Art Commissions

  • Ebooks

  • Exclusive videos

  • Zoom backgrounds

  • Maybe even Zoom cameos?

  • Invites to Whatsapp, Telegram, Viber or Discord groups

  • Social media mentions

  • Newsletter shout outs

  • Dedicated blog posts or sponsored content

  • Literally, anything you can think of

So let's get started!

Step 1

Head over to the extras section on your Buy Me a Coffee dashboard.

Step 2

Once you are in your extras page, you'll see a number of added templates.

These templates come with prefilled details that are easily editable, which helps our creators to get an idea of what to fill in, where and an average price you could charge for any of these extras.

If the extra you are looking to offer doesn't fit any of these templates, you can start afresh with the "Start from scratch" option.

Step 3

Click on any template, as an example - "Start from scratch," the template will unfold revealing your extra set-up fields -

Now let's take a look at the purpose of each field in shaping your extra -

  • Your extra name and price

Add your extra name and price here. Make sure to keep your extra name short and catchy without going into details. When it comes to your price, calculate the time and expenses that went to it and set a price you find reasonable.

  • Describe your extra

This is where you can get descriptive. Add all details that would make your extra appealing and would also help your supporters decide whether to claim your extra.

  • Confirmation message

Your confirmation message can serve two purposes, to deliver your extra or to mention when the extra will be delivered. If your extra is a digital product or service, you can simply add the link to your extra here. If it's something that's not immediately available or would take time to reach your supporter (like this one), you can share the details in your confirmation message,

  • Extra image

Upload an image to make your extra look fun and attractive. If you have an image of your extra add that, else something remotely relative to what you are offering will do.

  • Ask a question

Use this field to gather any required details you would need to successfully deliver your extra, e.g., the email address of your supporter, the picture they want you to draw, or in this case, the postal address of the supporter.

  • Limit the slots

Use this option if you want to make your extra exclusive or to create a sense of urgency in your supporters. And, in case all added slots get claimed, and you would still like to keep your extra open, you can simply come back and raise the number of slots.

Step 4

Once you are perfected your extra details, you can use the preview option on the right-hand side to check and see how your extra would look on your page.

Step 5

If you are happy with what you have added, click on the "Save changes" button, and your extra will be activated and will be published to your page.

Step 6

Start sharing your extra! For that, you can copy the sharable link, share it via your Facebook page, or better tweet about it.
